The Community Art Night at Coit Creative Arts Academy was a huge success! A grant from the Neighborhood Matching Funds through the City of Grand Rapids supported this collaborative school and neighborhood event. Together they enjoyed artistic expression and shared ideas about art as part of a community. A student artwork gallery included artwork from all students and guidance for families and students on appropriate gallery etiquette. A family art station had families painting rocks. They were able to take one rock home, and the other rock was donated to decorate neighborhood parks. A neighborhood station showed murals from the Belknap Lookout neighborhood. Families were asked to give input on a fading mural on Clancy St. by writing or drawing their ideas on a large sheet of paper. Over 150 attendees enthusiastically participated at each station, and great feedback was gathered to pass on to Neighbors of Belknap Lookout.
