On Tuesday, September 28th, 2021 the City of Grand Rapids declared racism as a public health crisis.
For many years the tobacco industry has intentionally advertised and funneled menthol tobacco products into Black communities. As a result, 480,000 people die each year.
We want to put an end to Big Tobacco companies profiting off of addiction and disease in our neighborhoods.
Urban League of West Michigan’s Health Equity Coalition has joined forces with several local and state agencies to help ban flavored tobacco sales in the State of Michigan. Together, we have an opportunity to end this blatant example of institutionalized racism caused by commercial tobacco.
To learn more and join us in the work to end the sale of all flavored tobacco products, be our guest and enjoy lunch ON US.
