MLK Program for Growth

July 15, 2019

Program for Growth is a partnership between Our Kitchen Table and MLK. It started in 2018. The program focuses on nutrition and planting, weeding and harvesting the school garden. Together they have constructed a huge garden and even larger affect on the health and knowledge of the school community on where food comes from and how to cook it. This is not a small thing. Volunteers come every day to work in the garden. The vegetables supply the school salad bar. Home container gardens help parents grow their own food at home. Volunteers visit the homes to make sure the container gardens are growing well and to answer questions from the parents. The students are also closely involved in the program.
