Engaging conversations

Parents can engage in restorative conversations with their children. This includes asking questions about how they feel about certain situations and asking how they think others feel when they make good or bad choices. Parents can also practice 5-to-1: saying 5 positive things for every 1 negative thing.
Empathic children grow up to be empathic adults. The world needs more adults who can understand the feelings of others. Politics and social issues such as poverty, homelessness or mental health would all be handled differently if everyone was trying to understand the feelings and/or perspective of others.
