Handling anger
Children learn how to handle emotions from watching the adults in their life. Show your children how to handle anger peacefully, with conversation and careful thought, so they learn how to do the same. Avoid resorting to negative expressions of frustration or anger around youngsters.
Try using slime, squish balls and other tactile devices to help your children learn how to regulate emotions.
Practice deep breathing to regulate elevated heart rates and help alleviate anxiety.
Being a part of an athletic team is a great way to learn self management skills. The GRPS schools start athletic programs in elementary schools. If your child has the interest in a sport, promote and encourage it by signing them up for an athletic team.
