GRPS leads nation with campaign

The innovative GRPS Strive for Less than 5! attendance campaign developed has been featured in a U.S. Department of Education webinar, NPR’s All Things Considered, and the website of national education consultant Attendance Works.

Since GRPS kicked off Strive for Less than 5! in 2014, the campaign has been picked up and localized by hundreds of schools across the U.S. (Just search “strive for less than 5” on YouTube to see a sampling of videos created using the GRPS slogan!) In the 2017-18 school year, Kent ISD Great Start Readiness Preschools incorporated the campaign and ran a Strive for Less than 5! video contest on social media, showing it is never too early to focus on good attendance.

And this year, Kent ISD has picked up the campaign for school districts throughout Kent County to reduce chronic absenteeism.
