Spring Into Family Brunch This Season With Five Cool Recipes
As the weather warms and fresh ingredients come into season, spring is the perfect time to bring the family together in the kitchen! Cooking with your kids isn’t just about making delicious meals—it’s a wonderful way to bond, teach important life skills, and encourage creativity. Whether you’re whipping up a batch of berry muffins, creating colorful salads, or trying a new spring-inspired recipe, the process can be just as rewarding as the final dish. In this article, we’ll share simple, fun, and tasty recipes that make cooking together a joyful experience this season. So, grab your aprons and get ready to make lasting memories—one recipe at a time! Check out these fun and easy PBS KIDS-inspired brunch recipes you can make with your kids, too!
Make pink lemonade.
Make a fancy brunch for kids by adding fruit to your tea party drinks. Break out the blender and have your children toss in strawberries to make a Pinkalicious pink lemonade. Don’t have a blender? Smash up blueberries by hand as your family follows Molly of Denali’s recipe for blueberry milk.
Put together fruit kabobs.
My kids love sweets. From jelly beans to chocolate bunnies, springtime is full of candy options. While those treats can be tasty, we also enjoy making yummy sweet treats at home together! Enjoy the sweetness of spring fruits that have come into season. Make fun-to-eat “Super Why” fruit kabobs. Or embrace your child’s creativity at family brunch and decorate coconut bunny cupcakes inspired by “Elinor Wonders Why.”
Get creative with veggies.
Getting my kids to eat veggies is difficult on a good day. Since my kids love to watch the snails in our backyard crawl around, we’re excited to turn veggies into creatures with this cute veggie snail recipe. (Or make fruit and veggie caterpillars inspired by “Nature Cat!”)
Add baked goods to your brunch.
I like to bake. Sometimes that means opening a boxed cake, but other times I go all out and make kid-friendly banana bread like Mom Tiger. (Her idea to cut slices into hearts is a nice touch!) My daughter likes to help bake, so making Molly’s spiced oatmeal muffins to share with Auntie at Sunday family brunch was something she jumped at.
Make a recipe inspired by eggs.
This time of year, it seems like Easter eggs are everywhere! Your kids will love to build edible nests. For something for curious minds (like a certain monkey), eggs-plore science together by making meringues just like Curious George.
