What’s the problem?
“Chronically absent” sounds like a terrible problem, and it is. What makes it worse: your child could be chronically absent, and you don’t even realize it.
That’s because it only takes one or two absences a month to become chronically absent, and enter the danger zone where:
- children are less likely to learn to read by 3rd grade
- students are less likely to keep up with their friends
- students are less likely to graduate on time
But with less than five absences each school year,
- children are more likely to learn to read by 3rd grade
- students are more likely to keep up with their friends
- students are more likely to graduate on time
